Voice-Focused Dating App Revealr Acquired By Smooch-Owner Venntro Media Group

Voice-focused dating app Revealr, which lets you record a 20-second audio clip as a calling card for prospective dates, has been acquired by Venntro Media Group, owner of multiple dating properties including Smooch.com via its acquisition of WooWise in 2012.

The terms of the deal remain undisclosed. However I’m told that all of Revealr’s assets are being acquired — product, technology and user base — although founders Paul Laight and Guy Harrington haven’t stuck around.

Instead the app is being relaunched and its development taken over by the current WooWise product team. Revealr had raised £75,000 in 2013 from an unnamed investor and isn’t disclosing user numbers.

In a statement, Venntro Media Group founder and CEO Ross Williams said: “We are delighted to be able to finally announce our acquisition of Revealr. The founders and creators of the app have built a very strong product with some highly unique features and we look forward to building on this foundation with a significant product update before the end of the year.”

Williams also says that Revealr’s founders are “off to do great things” outside of the online dating industry. I understand Laight is now CTO of mobile gambling platform Gametech. Meanwhile, Harrington is pursuing an investment fund in London property.
