Twitter went down for over an hour this evening, setting in a slight digital panic across the Internets. Twitter messaged that it’s aware of the Timeline issue and working on whatever happened there now.
You could tweet earlier. You could go to people’s profiles and see their latest tweet. You could even tweet that Twitter was down. Only some people could see that tweet… if they searched for it.
The Home feed was either updating at a crawl or not at all for many on the social network. Same with Notifications. Tweetdeck, Twitter website, the API and mobile were all down.
I sent a tweet to test this out just a bit ago. Looks like the site is back up and twittering along now.
Why the feed was slow or stalled is still a mystery. We’ve reached out to Twitter for comment on exactly what happened but have yet to hear back. We’ll let you know what’s going on if and when they do.
