DISH TV Now Accepts Bitcoin Payments

Another day, another major corporation accepting BTC. This time it’s DISH TV, a satellite TV provider that is working with Coinbase to accept bitcoin payments online.

Why is this news? Well, considering Overstock is now accepting $15,000 a day in Bitcoin sales, there is clearly some demand for paying for goods and services in cryptocurrency. Is this a gimmick on DISH’s part, probably aimed at gathering a techie audience completely incensed by Comcast? Sure. But it also means another major corporation is hopping on the bitcoin boat.

The company writes:

The bitcoin payment option is now available for DISH customers choosing to make one-time payments on mydish.com. Customers will still have the option to make any payment online via credit card, debit card or bank account.

Accepting bitcoin is easy and it will please a few nerds with wallets (myself included.) What will really be interesting is when bitcoin payments begin to surpass fiat currency payments and that, I fear, will be a long time coming.
