Streethub Launches Its Click And Collect iOS App For London Boutiques

Previewed last year, a new app hopes to entice people out of their homes to local stores in London, starting off with boutique fashion and gift stores. StreetHub’s iOS app lets shoppers either ‘click and collect’ directly from local stores, taking a rev-share on purchases or will delivery the item to their location inside 90 minutes.

If this was in the US their closest competitors would be Boutiika (in SF, non-mobile) and Stylr (NYC), which was just bought by Walmart Labs.

It’s so far brought in 300 of London’s boutiques. Think of this as the Just Eat or OpenTable of independent retail. Purchases made through the app receive a 10% discount and are available instantly to either ‘Click & Collect‘ or for delivery in London in around 90 minutes or less via its partner Shutl, which recently exited to eBay.

Mainly aimed at busy Londoners who want to virtually wander through local stores, the app takes the user’s location and presents a list of retailers and products nearby. Items include jewellery to homewares, fashion and lifestyle products.

Set up in 2013 by Mandeep Singh, Maxim Berglund and Alex Loizou, StreetHub is currently only available in London. Co-founder Mandeep Singh says he wants to help small independent retailers with the app. Whether it expands beyond boutiques remains to be seen.

The startup received $1.2 million investment in December 2013 from Index Ventures (led by Robin Klein), Octopus Investments (led by Fred Lardieg). It also garnered Angel funding from Wendy Becky CEO of Jack Wills, Tobin Ireland, ex-Director Vodafone & Chairman of Adbrain/Viewsy, Carlos Morgado CTO of Just-Eat, Jonathan Quin CEO of WorldFirst, Sean Cornwell ex-COO of Shutl, Angus McCarey ex-eBay and Rabin Yaghoubi ex-Director Google.

Streethub is tapping into an interesting market. The online-to-offline commerce market is considered to be over 50% of retail, estimated at £16bn in the UK.
