Dr Dre Appears To Confirm Beats/Apple Deal, Calls Himself ‘The First Billionaire In Hip Hop’

Update: Apple announced the $3 billion deal on May 28th.

“It’s not often you get to listen to Beats with Mr Beats himself.” So starts what looks like a selfie-video by musician Tyrese Gibson, who was hanging out with Dr Dre last night (embedded below).

We haven’t had any official confirmation from Apple or Beats about what’s really going on between the two companies, after the FT broke the news that the iPhone maker was going buy music streaming company for $3.2 billion. But Dr Dre, one of Beats’ co-founders, seems to have other views about transparency.

Playing around with some other folks, Gibson starts out the video with a reference to the Beats/Apple news. “Billionaire boys club for real, homie…. The Forbes list just changed!…”

“In a big way,” rejoined Dr Dre.

“The first billionaire in hip hop, right here on the motherf*ckin’ West Coast!” Dre says, standing behind him to lots of laughing and hollers off camera.

Shit just got real, yo.
