Mayfield Fund Strengthens Enterprise Investing Team, Adds StoreSimple Founder Ursheet Parikh As Partner

Silicon Valley VC firm Mayfield Fund is adding a new partner today, bringing on more enterprise talent with co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft-acquired enterprise hybrid storage company StorSimple, Ursheet Parikh.

Parikh was most recently the founder and CEO of StorSimple, a Mayfield-backed application-optimized hybrid storage solution for Microsoft, VMware, and others. The startup was acquired by Microsoft last year and was integrated into Windows Azure. Parikh served as a GM of marketing for the server, cloud, and tools business group at the Redmond-based company. Prior to StorSimple, Parikh was a product marketing executive at Cisco, which he joined through the acquisition of Andiamo Systems.

Navin Chaddha, Mayfield Fund Managing Director, tells us that when the firm raised its most recent fund last year ($365 million for its fourteenth fund), Mayfield decided to “double down” on the enterprise space when it came to hiring. He says that over 70 percent of the firm’s investments involve the enterprise, but Mayfield was looking for talent and expertise in the cloud, and storage space. Parikh is the sixth member of Mayfield’s investment team.
