The Virtual Mall For The iPad, Flit Raises $750K From Crosslink, YouWeb And Others

Flit, a shopping app for the iPad, has raised $750,000 from Crosslink Capital, YouWeb Startup Incubator, Spencer Trask, and Correlation Ventures.

Flit provides a single app that lets you shop across 1,000 stores, and aggregates all of a user’s favorite stores and styles in one interface. Flit’s iPad app automatically fields a user’s search through hundreds of shops in the apps’ database. Basically, Flit’s patent-pending technology eliminates the issue of switching between multiple browser tabs to view multiple shopping sites.

Users can also label a product as “Cute,” to save the item to purchase later or share the item. A comparison feature gives shoppers the opportunity to compare price, full product details and style in a side-by-side format of up to three items at one time. Additionally, users can buy items from within the app (Flit collects an affiliate fee), and the app will alert users when their favorite stores have new arrivals or items have gone on sale.

Flit also offers a Lookbook, which gives retailers, brands, and partners the opportunity to showcase a curated set of products for an immersive shopping experience.

Since its launch in mid-October, Flit says searches have grown 100% month over month, and monthly store visits by 113%.
