musiXmatch Launches Android Version Of Lyrics Finder, Hits 3m Downloads

musiXmatch, a large music lyrics content provider, is doubling down on mobile at Mobile World Congress. That makes sense – how often have you wondered about the lyrics to a song and ended up surfing some really bad ad-filed site? The new free Android musiXmatch Lyrics Player lets you identify the lyrics from any audio source (using Gracenote). That means to hold up the app to the music your hearing and it’ll just magically bring up the lyrics. You can also search Lyrics by words, title and artist. You can download it here.

It’s also possible to discover new tracks based on Lyrics by typing a few words of a song. The app supports Google Music, Spotify, Poweramp, Winamp, Youtube and several other mobile music players.

The company has signed deals with Sony ATV, Emi Publishing, Universal Publishing, Warner Chappel, Bmg Rights, Kobalt Music and Harry Fox Agency

Max Ciociola, CEO and Founder of musiXmatch says they’ve had “incredibly high consumption” on previous versions.

Previously it’s been available for iPhone, iPod Touch, Symbian, and Windows Mobile 7, Desktop Mac and Windows XP.
