Local Mobile Ad Network xAD Hits 2 Billion Ads Served, Hires CFO

Local mobile advertising network xAD has hit an important milestone today—2 billion ads served. After serving one billion ads in the first 18 months since launch, xAD doubled this in the past 4 months, serving another one billion ads since January. The company is also bringing on a new CFO.

xAD, which raised $4 million in funding and wants to be the “AdMob of Local,” offers a local mobile search and advertising network in the U.S. The company’s patented mobile optimization technology identifies who, what, and where an end user is, and serves the most relevant click, call and check in based advertising.

Steve McCarthy is joining xAD has CFO, who is coming to the network from the private equity industry. Additionally, Babak Dehnad is joining as vice president of global human resources for xAD.

Of course, xAD’s major competitor in the local mobile ad space is Google.

Although this isn’t an apples to apples comparison, Google is seeing 2 billion mobile ad requests per day.

xAD has become the mobile ad network of choice for third-party developers and publishers who specialize in local, navigation, social, and directory applications seeking better content relevance and monetization of their products. Local mobile ads are highly actionable and track-able for advertisers and publishers: 25 percent of clicked-on ads lead to a call to the business.
