FCC Reveals The JBL On Air Wireless AirPlay Speaker System

AirPlay-equipped audio systems will probably at everywhere at CES 2011. CE companies are going to stand up and shout, “Hey, look! We love Apple too!” This JBL system will likely be part of the company’s CES offering but it first stopped off for some quality time with the good ol’ boys at the FCC, which seems to state that the retail market isn’t far away. It’s about what you’d expect from JBL, too: A speaker dock using a long-established product name with a slightly unconventional design.

The JBL On Air Wireless features an LCD screen on the front and a wrap-around speaker setup with large snooze/alarm off button crowning the top. Inside are the goods for Apple AirPlay streaming along with an FM radio, clock with dual alarm functions, and around back is an AUX input for non-iOS device compatibility. Speaker wattage and frequency response aren’t listed in the FCC documents, but JBL’s iPod speaker docks have nearly always impressed so this one will likely not be any different. Expect pricing and availability info to drop during CES 2011, which just so happens to be less than two weeks away.
