The hardcore bicyclists out there (I am not among their number) are probably prepared for all the wet and slippery inevitabilities of winter, but if you’re just planning a few rides or are new to bike commuting, you might want to take a look at this handy guide to staying safe on the road. It’s not just about hand signals.

A nice, bright rear LED and reflectors on your wheels are probably the most important parts of alerting motorists to your presence. After that, it’s all about staying warm, keeping your bike in working order, and not being afraid to look like a dork.
