Flirtomatic keeps growing – 3.5m users and several key hires

Mobile social network Flirtomatic (“the world’s number one flirting company”) continues to notch up users: It’s now passed the 3.5 million registered user mark, a trajectory the company has been on for a while, operating its free service across the UK, US, Germany, Australia, with Spain launching next.

Flirtomatic has also announced a bunch of new hires.

Christian Amicabile, who joins from Intermediactive Group, has been appointed as Head of CRM where he will be responsible for “managing and optimising the creation and execution of all strategic and tactical elements of a portfolio of database marketing campaigns.” He’ll report to Flirtomatic’s COO Jerry Ennis.

Trisha Champaneri has also been appointed as Communications Manager. She joins from bespoke matchmaking and online dating service Sitting in a Tree, a startup where she was Deputy Managing Director, and is described as a “dating specialist” through personal consultations and various blogs. Perfect for upping Flirtomatic’s U.S. appeal, one would have thought.

Alexandra Pontikis (ex-Gameloft UK) and Will Proops (ex-Commercial Controlling Manager at Discovery Networks Europe) are also joining Flirtomatic, taking on the roles as Social Media & Apps Manager and Advertising Account Manager respectively.

Flirtomatic has distribution partnerships with Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, MetroPCS, ninemsn, ProSiebenSat1 and Samsung, while the company’s ad partners include: O2, Nokia and L’Oreal.

Founded in 2005, Flirtomatic has raised over $17 million in VC funding, including its latest C Series round of $9m in July, and is founded by Mark Curtis, who founded Razorfish London and Fjord; and Avi Azulai, founder and Group Managing Director of ITouch plc.
