Raise Your Hand If You *Already* Had The Beatles On Your iPhone!

That’s that, then: the Beatles are finally on iTunes. (I guess the MP3 will live to fight another day!) It’s a big deal in the sense of, “Well, it sure took them long enough!” I mean, there was already a Beatles Rock Band video game last year, so you know it was just a matter of time until Apple secured the rights for iTunes. What I want to know is, how many of you already had the Beatles on your device prior to this morning’s announcement? That is, the Beatles being on iTunes is cool and all, sure, but you’re already spoken for.

Our best guess in the chat room this morning is that the Beatles on iTunes will be a huge deal to people of a certain age, say, the type of person who still watches the nightly news so they know what the weather will be like tomorrow. Conveniently enough, the nation’s newspaper and TV editors are all right around that age, so expect to see wall-to-wall coverage today.

“Here Comes The Sun, now on your iPhone! But first, a fire on Main Street had firefighters tied up for two hours today. We’ll tell you what you need to know, after this commercial break.”

So again, I ask: how many of you already had the Beatles on your iPhone/iPod/Zune/Whatever prior to this morning’s announcement? Either you ripped a CD yourself (the big box set came out last year) or you somehow downloaded an album from somewhere else?

I make no judgements one way or the other, I’m just curious to see how much of an impact today’s announcement will have on your lives.

We can work it out~!
