Sprint fires up 4G in NYC, 5 other cities

A collective “Yay!” can today be heard from all the eager data hounds in NYC today, as Sprint/Clearwire have officially fired up 4G WiMAX coverage in New York City, Hartford, New Haven, New Brunswick, Trenton and Tampa, brining the total of 4G-enabled cities to 61.

The 4G goodness will work on any 4G capable handsets from Sprint, as well as any 4G Clearwire USB modems you may have sitting in your desk drawer.

Of course, T-mobile’s HSPA+/4G network is currently faster than Sprint’s 4G, but extra speed is extra speed, and you won’t hear any NYC Sprint customers complaining. Or at least I won’t… because I live about 15,000km away.

So, if you’re in one of these new cities, and have some kind of 4G device, why not let us know how it’s going in the comments, below?
