Apple's Remote app gets a much need upgraded

Given that Apple’s Remote app is built by… you know, Apple, you might have assumed that it would’ve been one of the first out of the gate with support for the iPhone 4’s Retina display, the iPad, and other such Apple-made treats. You know what they say about assumptions, right?

As it turns out, the Remote app’s team is pretty small — in fact, last we heard, it was a one-man side project. Such things don’t take priority, you know? Fortunately, it looks like he managed to find some time: version 2.0 of the Remote app is here.

So what’s new? It’s pretty much what you’d expect:

  • iPad support
  • Retina Display support
  • Shared Library Support
  • Support for the new Apple TV
  • iTunes 10 compatibility fixes
