Custom ClockworkMod Recovery now available for Droid X, Custom ROMs may not be far behind

The kerfuffle over the Droid X exploding on modders may soon be a distant memory, as the next step in full pwnage of the device has been completed. Thanks to the ever-talented Koush, the first working Custom Recovery has now been released.

While not a “real” recovery image, the modified Clockwork Recovery image now allows backing up and restoration of system images using Nandroid, which is a crucial step in prepping the phone for the installation of custom ROMs, as any mistakes or accidental brickages are now easily undone.

This now means that the ability to install Custom ROMs is now significantly closer: to quote Koush, “It will just take a little hackery”.

Keen to get your recovery mode on? Hit up Koush’s site for more details and full instructions. Note that you will need to have a rooted handset for this to work, though.
