Videoplaza signs first Spanish deal for its video adserver

Swedish video ad server startup Videoplaza has signed a deal with Barcelona-based Grupo Godó. The first sites launching in the deal are La Vanguardia, Barcelona’s highest-circulation daily newspaper based, and El Mundo Deportivo, one of the largest sports publications in Spain.

The launch follows recent news of the company signing key advisors, and also receiving €3.5M in funding

Enterprise sized deals in the content and media space can be a lengthy process, but the deal moved quickly, much thanks to Groupo Godó using a video solution provided by one of Videoplaza’s partner companies. Luckily they claim they are seeing a lot more attention from other Southern European customers, where Spain has been especially eager.

Videoplazas has so far moved into Northern Europe, with deals in Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and the UK and is now trying for Southern Europe. To further their roll-out in that market the company has hired a Commercial Director for the region where Esteban Lupin joins Videoplaza, most recently from Microsoft Atlas.

The company faces large international market competitors in ADTECH and DoubleClick, although Videoplaza has an early mover advantage.
