The traditional Tarot deck has finally been updated with some new artwork, although the update didn’t quite make it past the mid-to-late 80’s. ThinkGeek is selling “8-Bit Tarot Cards” which look like a cross between the ancient mysteries and the also-ancient Nintendo Entertainment System.

The cards are based on the “Rider-Waite Tarot Deck” and each illustration was made with an 88×152 resolution “using only the colors in the default 9-bit Mac OS color palette.” Hey, where’d they get that extra bit there?

The set includes a 78-card deck in “an 8-bit cardboard keepsake box.” Available for $29.99 from ThinkGeek.
