iGo, “a leading developer of multi-device chargers for laptop computers and mobile electronic devices”, plans to roll out some new items at their first-ever visit to CES, just a few weeks away.
The iGo Laptop Charger, with iGo Green™ Technology, lets you “[c]harge your laptop and other devices from any standard wall outlet, including automatic shut-off and recovery to reduce vampire power.” Vampire power, also called standby power, is the consumption of juice even when a device is turned off. There exists some controversy as to whether vampire power is really a problem. If you have a power brick that does draw excessive power even when disconnected from the device it charges, the iGo Laptop Charger might be worth a second glance.
iGo also sound awfully proud that their “netbook chargers for travel and home/office simultaneously power a netbook with an additional device.” Sounds like just about any other power strip, if you ask me, but maybe there’s something I’m missing here.
In addition, expect to see a variety of “premium accessories” like international power adapters, multi-format media readers, and a laptop cleaning kit.
