SmartShopper digital list maker gets $50 price drop

tape-white Back in July of 2007, some of you may recall that your good buddy Doug wrote a post about the $150 SmartShopper device titled SmartShopper Needs $147 Price Drop to be Competitive, wherein I compared the utility of a device that voice-records your shopping list to that of a $3 pad of paper from OfficeMax. My general position was that $150 was too much to pay for something that keeps a list of groceries for eventual printout.

Well it seems like the good folks at SmartShopper have finally listened, as the device has – almost a year and a half later – been lowered in price to $99, including free shipping. And with stars like Rachael Ray, Montel Williams, and Donny Deutsch all singing their praises about the SmartShopper, I’ve no choice but to now formally declare the pad of paper, as we know it, dead.

In all seriousity, the SmartShopper does some cool tricks. You simply press the record button and speak whatever item you need into the device and when it comes time to shop, you print out a list of your items. The list is thoughtfully organized by department so you don’t find yourself constantly bouncing from corner to corner of your local grocer.
