Panasonic introduces 2 new HD camcorders

Yesterday Panasonic Japan unveiled [JP] 2 new HD camcorders to be released in this country on July 12th. The HDC-SD100 and the HDC-HS100 are the world’s first AVCHD camcorders with a 3MOS system.

Their new models use three CMOS sensors instead of the traditional CCD, improving picture quality and reducing power consumption at the same time. Both camcorders shoot full HD footage. THe HDC-HS100 features a 60 GB hard drive and a memory card slot, while the other model lacks the hard drive, recording to up to 32GB of SDHC.

The camcoders are equipped with a 2.7-inch LCD screen, 12xoptical zoom, a 5.1 surround mic, an HDMI interface and Viera TV connection.

Panasonic will sell the HDC-HS100 for $1,400 and the HDC-SD100 for $1,200 in Japan. However, the company said both camcorders are also scheduled for release in the USA in September.
