Apple considering selling iPhone 3G at college campuses

Looks like Apple is considering selling the iPhone 3G at top universities throughout the country. The move would be the first by Apple to expand sales of the iPhone outside its own retail stores and AT&T’s; it’d be limited to schools where it already has a significant account and presence.

Apple had thought about expanding sales of the iPhone to Best Buy last year, but freaked out when it realized just how sophisticated the gray market had become.

The iPhone could be of genuine use to students. Over-the-air access to assignments, a campus map—put that GPS to use!—answer in-class quizes, and so on. Yeah, some kids will be all” dude, I got an iPhone,” but the smart ones will use them properly.

Commence the hating of college students, what with their ideals and meal plans.
