Comcast, BitTorrent join forces: No more traffic blocking, still some throttling

Our cup runneth over! Comcast is now working with BitTorrent, Inc. The two companies struck a deal that will see Comcast stop blocking BitTorrent traffic while simultaneously upgrading its capacity to handle all that bandwidth.

The AP reported last fall that Comcast was selectively blocking BitTorrent [upload] traffic; the FCC later discovered the same practice, which forced Comcast to admit to its evilness.

As part of the deal, Comcast said it will only throttle connections it deems to be using too much bandwidth. So, you’re paying for an “unlimited” account yet Comcast will limit your use of it. Unless it changes its terms of service, Comcast still won’t win over the torrent crowd.
