Android delayed, developer's challenge pushed back

scaledandroid_cop.jpgDon’t worry, guy who wants to make a Neko the Cat port for Android! There’s still time! Android has been delayed for a few weeks and the $10 million developer’s challenge will end on April 14, giving you plenty of time to get the mouse/cat interaction just right.

We’d like to let you know that we are extending the submission deadline for the first Android Developers Challenge to 14 April 2008. Based on the great feedback you’ve given us, we’ve made significant updates to the SDK that we’ll be releasing in several weeks. In order to give you extra time to take advantage of these forthcoming UI and API enhancements, we’ve decided to extend the submission deadline. In addition, a fair number of developers have also asked for more time to build and polish their applications.

I find it hard to believe that a) the $10 million challenge has not been pushed off because no one entered and b) that they can’t get product out the door faster than this. Isn’t this the company that wants to bail out Yahoo! to stave off Microsoft? Apparently there will be some working Android phones at MWC next week but I’m not holding my breath.
