CG Holiday 2007 Recommendation: db clay is gonna get you some play

I was born and raised in the 503 and I make sure everyone knows about it. So it’s pretty obvious that I’m a treehugger because, well, Mother Nature never gets old like video games or stupid ass TV shows. But it seems the path we’ve chosen may lead to the deterioration of Mother Earth, which is a shame considering all she’s done for us. But I digress as I usually do when talking about eco-ish stuff.

As an Oregonian I try and be as eco-friendly as possible. The same goes for db clay based in NE Portland, who you may remember started the whole duct tape billfold craze way back when. I remember those guys peddling that stuff at Saturday Market. I just wish I was cool enough back then to have picked one up. *sigh*

Nevertheless the guys at db have introduced the Version 3 line of wallets made from Tope, which is their custom eco-friendly textile. But what is it?

Tope is a synthetic fabric similar (in texture) to a vinyl canvas. However, Tope does not contain certain hazardous chemicals typically found in most vinyl-based products. In particular, Tope contains NO PVC, Tope is made from non-toxic raw materials (it causes no dioxin, heavy metal or phthalate pollution), Tope decomposes when buried, Tope is chlorine chemicals free and Tope is fabricated through a pollutant free process. Additionally, we have engineered a tremendously technical printing process whereby we print high resolution and full photographic images using environmentally friendly inks. To top it off, Tope is also vegan and animal free.

Can it get any better? Hell yes it can. Check out the variety of prints you can get. I personally have the Broadway. It definitely turns heads when I whip it out. Chicks dig outlandish things. Like moths to a flame. The more peacock you are the better. So why not do it with something that is biodegradable?

There’s also a limited line of 500 wallets that are one-of-a-kind. I’m going to have to get one of those as well. Just not sure which one, yet. So I’ve given you the lowdown now which one are you getting? Need a little more incentive? Fine. db was nice enough to pass along a discount code for 15 percent off, dbholiday07. Is that good enough? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Of course, if you’re into the duct tape billfolds then you can get those too.
