CG Holiday 2007 Recommendation: Casio Exilim EX-S880

I’m a camera guy. I like to have a good picture-taker with me at all times, mostly because my friends are always doing something stupid, or hot, or funny, and I like to moments to last. I’m also a flickr fanatic, so I want something that looks good, because I’ll be sharing.

I also like YouTube, so when I heard that Casio’s new S880 digital camera featured an integrated, one-touch YouTube mode, as well as the great looking low-light shots I’d come to love in the Exilim I already had, I made sure to check one out. And worth it it was: the photos are amazing in any light, and the video is absolutely stunning. This hasn’t just replaced my point-n’-shoot, it’s replaced my video camera, as well.

It can do this because it’s small, very thin. And because it’s got a real 16:9 mode, so you get really cinematic video and photos. The 3x optical zoom is amazing, as is the huge viewscreen and “easy” modes.

Above you’ll see a short film I made over the weekend with just the Casio Exilim in YouTube mode. Sure, I did a little editing in iMovie, but if you’re on the go and want great video and great photos, I cannot recommend a better camera than the Casio Exilim S880.
