AdMob four iPhone: Mobile Ads You'll Actually Like

This is a little OT, but it is pretty cool. AdMob just launched a new type of mobile ad for the iPhone that takes advantage of CSS and other Ajax-y stuff to offer personalized ads. The video above shows how the ads work. They don’t take you to a separate page but instead they bring up a quick Google map or pop-up that gives you location- and time-specific messages.

The ads are iPhone-specific and will only show up on the iPhone. Fifteen companies, including Starbuck’s, have already signed up. Soon, you’ll be able to search for Big Macs while reading the New York Times. Ain’t technology grand?
