Vista: Most Secure OS, Pigs Fly

Based on an incredibly long article from eWeek, Microsoft’s own security strategy director Jeff Jones has concluded that Vista is the least vulnerable OS. Jones says that Vista has only had 12 publicly known exploits compared to 129 in Red Hat Enterprise, 29 in Ubuntu, and 16 in OS X. Analysts argue that these results are based on Vista’s limited deployment and the fact that other operating systems have had 10 year life spans while Vista has just been released. MS seems to be proud that it actually did the right thing this time around however, no one will know the true nature of these threats until Vista has been on the market for a few years.

Of course, Jones’ position at MS did not have any impact on his results…
