Pioneer has announced the ‘World’s best flat screen TV’ and I’m pretty sure they have some oomph to back that up. The Project Kuro TV line-up has black levels that are 80% deeper than before with a true contrast ratio of 20,000:1. OK? The blacker the background the brighter everything else is. Get it? Good. Why didn’t anyone think of that before?! The ‘intelligent brightness control’ does exactly that and adjusts brightness so you get the best possible picture no matter what the condition.

There will be a total of 10 different models split between 720p and 1080p models. The 1080p line has the true 20,000:1 ratio, while the 720p line is set at a 16,000:1 ratio. The 1080p line-up is comprised of 50 and 60-inch screens with and without Digital Color Filter III Plus. The 720p line has 50 and 42-inch sets in three different divisions that are differentiated by a High-End set, Aluminum Surround set and a set that includes an Analogue or DVB-T tuner. All other models have DBV-T tuners. The 720p series will be available in June, but you’ll have to wait until September for the 1080p line. No word on price just yet.
