Qantas, the official airline of Australia, has announced they will begin a three month public trial on one of Boeing 767s in the fleet for domestic flights. Emirates and Ryanair have also announced intentions to have such trials. Unfortunately, the US won’t be experiencing such trials anytime soon. I, for one, am happy about that. I hate people who talk very LOUD on the bus, and I’m liable to throw a fit on a plane and be arrested.
SMS and email messages will only be allowed and passengers will not be notified ahead of time whether or not their flight will have the aforementioned services. Obviously, voice calls were disabled because people will get annoyed with the Chatty Kathy’s onboard. It seems the business folk made enough of a fuss to warrant such a trial. Maybe I’ll get a chance to try this out later this year when I go Down Under.
