Final Cut Studio 2, Apple’s awesome looking new digital video editing suite (which we’ll cover more later) includes something called ProRes 422, basically a package for handling and editing uncompressed HD on the new 8-way Mactopusses. Aja has debuted a Firewire video capture box that was designed from the ground up to work with ProRes 422. This means that if you’re looking for a tweedledee to go with Apple HD tweedledum, this is your cookie. We tried to get a hands-on, but they keep this guy behind glass on a rotating pedestal. It’s cool, sure, but it’s not the Hope Diamond or anything. Sheesh.
