Feeling Up The Slim Samsung L77

Say hello to the recently announced 7.1-megapixel Samsung L77. We said say “Hello!” It is the slimmest (fractionally thinner than the $399 Casio Exilim EX-V7R) 7X optical zoom camera currently available. It’s start up time was fast, too, with the lens being entirely internal.

The L77 is 0.8-inches thick. A great size for putting in your pocket and with the 7X zoom you can totally be inconspicuous when you’re shooting wildlife or your hottie neighbor sunbathing.

With just a slight bump outward on the front right of the camera chassis, you can get a good one-handed grip on the body and with just the power and shutter buttons on top, you really don’t have to worry about hitting the wrong button to snap off some shots in a hurry.

The 2.5-inch LCD is pretty standard on compacts these days, but it is nice nonetheless. Plus, the body has a nice, solid feel to it. Other features include an ISO up to 1600, MPEG-4 VGA video recording at 30fps and electronic picture stabilization, which along with the aforementioned grip should make this a good camera for fast, one-handed shooting.
