Wal-Mart Offering Digital Downloads

Wal-Mart is getting hardcore into the business of digital downloads, scoring a deal with all six major studios: Paramount, Warner Bros., Disney, Sony, Fox and Universal. Not only that, but the ‘Mart was able to get the TV networks on its side as well. Shows from Nickelodeon, FX, Comedy Central, and other Viacom-based networks are all available for $1.95 an episode.

Apparently, Wal-Mart also commissioned HP to design the site, which looks a little plain, but that’s fine. Movies are going to set you back anywhere from $7.50-$19.88 depending on the title—the latter being a bit too expensive for a digital download. Guess we’ll have to wait and see how Wal-Mart does with its service before bashing it or praising it any more.
