Asus J501 Packs It In

Just released in Taiwan, the Asus J501 is sure to put the mobile phone world on its collective heels.

With a stunning 2.2-inch, high-res mirrored LCD and 2-megapixel camera, the J501 is a nicely packaged device. But it’s not your run-of-the-mill cell phone with a decent camera. Oh no, it’s much more than that.

The J501’s 2-megapixel camera features an uber-sensitive, two-step auto-focus shutter that can get as close as 10cm. It can snap off horizontal photos, record video and can even connect to a PC via USB for use as a Web camera.

The integrated music player is a multi-faceted beast with several equalizer settings and different skins allowing you to tailor the sound of individual songs. The J501 supports AAC, AAC+ and MPEG4 file formats to provide high-quality video and music. It also has a built-in FM radio that lets you record your favorite broadcasts and comes packed with 10 games to break your boredom.

And last but not least, the J501 acts as your Skype phone connecting to your PC via Bluetooth and it also supports your Skype friends list, IM, SkypeIn and Out and switches from GSM to Skype seamlessly.
Available only in Taiwan at the moment, but hopefully it hits our shores soon, priced at $300.
