Real Guitar Becomes Guitar Hero Controller For Good Cause

It’s worth mentioning that if you live in the NYC-area tonight, you should come visit our pal Joel Johnson’s charity event called Funde Razor. Proceeds from the event are going to Penny Arcade’s Child’s Play Charity, which helps sick kids in hospitals out through video game donations and such. It’s going to be a great event for a great cause, but there’s also going to be a custom-made Guitar Hero II controller available for sale.

The guitar was made by a gracious lad from Toolmonger. He gutted a standard Guitar Hero controller and went to work on fitting it inside a Squier Strat, which is genius due to its popular design and low cost. The best part is, full HOW-TO instructions have been posted to the website and you too can make one if you have the resources, time, and patience. The final result looks outstanding and I for one would love to shred on Guitar Hero II with a real guitar. Tackle this project if you dare, but be sure to swing by the event tonight for fun, shredding, and helping a good cause.

Update: Joel sez that 2 additional guitar controllers will be up for auction as well. Sweetness!
