Provided by Google and created by Paul Buchheit, Gmail is a free, advertising-supported email service launched in April 2004. Individual Gmail messages can contain up to 25 MB. Gmail also provides users with a search-oriented interface and a conversation view similar to an Internet site. Gmail also integrates with Google Drive to allow users access to attachments in supported formats. As of June 2012, Gmail was the most widely used web-based email provide with over 425 million active users around the world.
