iOS 8

iOS 8

iOS 8 is an operating system for Apple mobile devices, including the iPhone, iPad and iPod. Billed as the biggest iOS release ever, iOS 8 is scheduled to be released in fall 2014.

iOS 8 includes numerous improvements and updates, including the way in which it syncs with computers running OS X (a “continuity feature”). Other features include “handoff,” which will detect when your iPhone or iPad is near your Mac and lets you send documents between the devices, and “instant hotspot,” which recognizes when you tethering-enabled iPhone is nearby, allowing you to connect through it even without Wi-Fi.

In keeping with the growing popularity of biometric devices, iOS 8 will also offer a Health app and HealthKit system, which had been billed as a unifying force that will tie together the many health-related apps on the App Store. This will make it easier for developers to feed data into the Health app, rather than build custom tools to sync and collate all health data.
