Android KitKat

Android KitKat

Android 4.4, or KitKat, debuted on Google’s Nexus 5 on October 31, 2013 and has been optimized to run on a greater range of devices than earlier Android versions.

KitKat’s features include the ability for applications to trigger translucency in the navigation and status bars; ability for applications to use ‘immersive mode’ to keep the navigation and status bars hidden while maintaining user interaction; visible action overflow menu buttons; wireless printing capacity; WebViews based on Chromium engine; expanded functionality for notification listener services; Bluetooth Message Access Profile support; and a native infrared blaster API.

Subsequent updates to the initial KitKat have also been released: 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 in December 2013, and 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 in June 2014.
