Android KitKat

Android 4.4, or KitKat, debuted on Google’s Nexus 5 on October 31, 2013 and has been optimized to run on a greater range of devices than earlier Android versions.

KitKat’s features include the ability for applications to trigger translucency in the navigation and status bars and use ‘immersive mode’ to hide navigation and status bars while maintaining user interaction; visible action overflow menu buttons; wireless printing; WebViews based on Chromium engine; expanded functionality for notification listener services; Bluetooth Message Access Profile support; and a native infrared blaster API.

Subsequent updates have been released: 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 in December 2013, and 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 in June 2014.
