Jeff Bezos is an American technology entrepreneur and investor, best known for his role in the growth of e-commerce as the founder and CEO of Amazon.com.
He founded Amazon, headquartered in Seattle, Wash., in 1994. Under his leadership, the online merchant of books and other consumer products became the largest retailer on the Internet. In 2000, Bezos founded Blue Origin, a human spaceflight startup company, with the aim of making space travel available to paying customers. In 2014, Bezos purchased the Washington Post for $250 million in cash.
Jeff Bezos was named TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year in 1999 and Fortune Magazine’s Businessperson of the Year in 2012. As of 2013, Bezos was listed as one of the wealthiest people in the world, with an estimated net worth of $28 billion.
He holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University.
