Founded in 1977 by Larry Ellison, Bob Miner, and Ed Oates, Oracle is a US-based multinational computer technology corporation that specializes in developing computer hardware systems and enterprise software products. Products include the Oracle database, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Secure Enterprise Search, Oracle Beehive, Oracle Enterprise Manager, the Oracle Solaris and Oracle Linux operating systems, and business applications like the Oracle E-Business Suite.
Oracle also builds tools for database development and systems of middle-tier software, enterprise resource planning software, customer relationship management software, and supply chain management software.
Larry Ellison has served as CEO since Oracle’s founding, as well as chairman from 1990 to 2004 when he was replaced by Jeff Henley. In January 2010, Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems, transforming Oracle from being only a software company to a manufacturer of both software and hardware.
