Sony Ericsson To Push Android 2.1 Update To X10 Handsets This Sunday

It’s that time again, folks: it’s time for Good News, Bad News! Bad News: If you own a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 handset, you’ve been waiting a pretty friggin’ long time for an update. But you already knew that, so I suppose it’s not really bad news. Hell, it’s probably not even technically news. Good news: The wait is, at long last, over. Android 2.1 will start hitting X10 handsets beginning this weekend. → Read More

Unboxing the AT&T Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

After five months of floating around in the UK, the Android-powered Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 will finally be hitting US shores in just two days. We had the opportunity to meet up with some of the folks from Sony Ericsson to nab a unit fresh off the production line early this morning. Of course, we couldn’t open up a shiny new toy without giving it the customary photoshoot — so join us after the jump for all of your gadget-porn needs (and in just a few hours for our hands-on impressions, and about a week from now for our full review.) → Read More

The Sony Ericsson Xperia 10: $130 at AT&T on August 15th

The Sony Ericsson Xperia 10 has seemingly been in pre-retail status for, like, years. But it will finally be available on the AT&T network on August 15th for $130. The official specs are pretty commonplace these days with a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 4-inch display, 8.1MP cam, and 8GB of on-board memory. The only thing not announced so far is the Android version with the screenshots on Sony Style indicating that it might even be 1.6. But that can’t be right. Even if it is, the Android community will likely fix that asap. → Read More

Sony releases Xperia X10 software update: no Eclair just yet

While it isn’t the update you’ve all been waiting for (ie Android 2.1), Sony have just released (over the air) the first upgrade to their premium Xperia X10 device. → Read More

Video: Hands on with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8

Did you love what you saw when Sony Ericsson announced their mid-range Xperia X8 yesterday?

Are you longing for a little more than a few press shots and a photo of the various colours?

Have I got a hands-on video? Yes! Yes I do! → Read More

Sony Ericsson announces Xperia X8, plus Android 2.1 updates to Xperia X10 line

Two pieces of good news here for Sony Ericsson fans: the company today announced the next phone in their Xperia line, the X8. Slotting in below the X10, the X8 will be its smaller, cheaper sibling.

Speaking of the X10, here’s the other piece of good news: they (as in all three types of the X10), will get a bump from Android 1.6 to Android 2.1 in Q3 of this year. For the original X10, the bump will also bring HD video recording, which is a neat bonus. → Read More

Alright, everyone — it’s that time again! It’s time for yet another weekly installment of “Good news, bad news”! Hurraaaay!

The Good News: The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has been rooted, granting hackers full access to the file system and the ability to install custom ROMs.

The Bad News:→ Read More

Sony Ericsson unboxes the Xperia X10, stomps on toes

You know what weirds me right the hell out? Companies doing their own unboxing videos. That’s our job. I realize they’re probably proud of their work and are just itching to show it off, but a new handset getting its first video unboxing by the company that made it is like a dad taking his own daughter to prom. Wrong? Not technically. Kind of awkward? Absolutely. Oh well. Sony Ericsson decided to debox their ultra-pretty Android phone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, themselves. Go ahead and watch it after the jump — I won’t be too hurt. → Read More

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 clears for landing at AT&T

When the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 was announced in November, my major concern was whether it was coming to the U.S., when it was coming and if it would be subsidized by a carrier. The good news is that it looks like the X10 will be hitting AT&T’s shores this Spring. → Read More

Sony Ericsson keeps 'em coming with Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro

More Android handsets are on the way from Sony Ericsson as the handset manufacturer just announced smaller versions of the Xperia X10: the X10 mini and X10 mini pro. Clever names, right? These handsets are quite sexy, if I say so myself, and the pro version has the nice addition of a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Like the bigger X10, these feature SE’s custom UX platform over Android, which includes Timescape for aggregating all your content to one place.  But enough about me yapping over these handsets; I’ll step aside and let you experience them for yourself. Hit the break for the full release and some videos. → Read More
