You can now play Swords with your Wii (thankyouvermuch)

Moving on, Majesco Entertainment just announced a sword fighting game cleverly named Swords. It uses Wii MotionPlus for 1-to-1 accuracy as you fight your way through “eight skilled adversaries” with a sword Wii Remote add-on. Expect the game this September. To be honest, I couldn’t care less about the game or the sword Wii Remote thing. I just wanted to use my juvenile headline. → Read More

Sneak Peek: Super Mario Galaxy 2

If you enjoyed taking your favorite Italian plumber into space the first time around, you’ll have even more fun with the sequel. Scheduled to be released May 23rd, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is anything but a rehash of the original. Nintendo was kind enough to give us a demo of some of the new goodies you can expect. You know, if you’re into that sort of thing. → Read More

The PowerV Quad from Konnet Technology aims to charges and display Wii Remotes

There isn’t much to be said here. One look at the pic and headline and you probably already know what it’s a 4-port Wii Remote inductive changing station. But you probably don’t know that the PowerV Quad even works Wii Motion Plus and silcone covers. Nice, eh? $50 and ships in a few weeks. → Read More

Wii hack shows what Wii Music might have been

Look, we all know Wii Music was nonsense. And it wasn’t that playing music on a Wii is a bad idea, it’s that you just pretend to play music. If they had given it the attention it deserved, they might have put something together like this Carnegie Mellon student Shu did. Using a few flex sensors and the buttons and accelerometer in a Nunchuk, he’s made a functioning air guitar that even a baby could play competently. I mean, like a blues baby or something, not just any baby. → Read More

The US might finally get the black Wii

Okay, this isn’t even funny anymore. Why the hell isn’t the black Wii available in the states? It has been available in Japan for almost nine months and about six months in Europe. That’s just crazy. Previously Nintendo even stated that it had no plans on releasing a Wii in any other color besides white in America. But that stance might have changed. → Read More

Video: How good is the Nintendo Wii emulator Dolphin? Let's see how Resident Evil 4 does!

So a few days ago Dolphin 2.0 was released. Dolphin is a Nintendo Wii and GameCube emulator for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and it works quite well. How well? Here’s a video of me playing the Wii version of Resident Evil 4—which, yes, I do own, thank you very much. → Read More

Descent coming to WiiWare – prepare barf bags

Do you people remember how disorientating Descent was back when it first game out? I mean, we had Doom and Flight Simulator and all that, but spinning around in those little passages trying to laser a fool was a whole new thing. And a lot of people got dizzy, myself included. Well, now you can be nauseated all over again, as everybody’s favorite tunnel-shooter is coming to the Wii. → Read More

Dolphin, the Wii and GameCube emulator, has its first post-open source release. It's really good.

Around two years ago, Dolphin, the GameCube and Wii emulator for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, went open source. Today marks the first official release since that magical day. And let me tell you something: Dolphin works really, really well. Give it a shot when you have a chance. → Read More

Netflix comes to the Nintendo Wii

Officially official (as opposed to rumored, I suppose): You can now stream Netflix on your Nintendo Wii. You can only stream in standard definition, so if that matters to you… Oh, and you’ll need to request a streaming disc, à la the PS3, in order to stream content. That’s about it. → Read More

When coupled with the Wii MotionPlus accessory, “It works extremely well,” according to IGN. → Read More

No new Wii ‘any time soon’ says Nintendo

Don’t expect new console hardware from Nintendo in the near future. When asked “When do you think it’ll be time for new hardware?” in a recent interview with Gamespot, Nintendo’s Cammie Dunaway replied, “I don’t think it’ll be any time soon because even though our installed base is, at this point, 5 million households larger than the PS2 installed base was at the same point in its lifecycle, it still has a lot of room to grow.” → Read More
