Movie licensed games have generally sucked something fierce. Very rarely are any of them ever any good, and the same goes for movies based on videogames. Something gets lost in translation. Development is typically rushed to coincide with simultaneous launches, and gamers are the ones who suffer the most. There are a few diamonds in the rough (X-Men Origins: Wolverine was pretty good), but they’re few and far between. Sadly, I missed the preview they held last night in NYC, which I’m extremely heartbroken over, but I’ll pay to see the movie regardless. Anyway, Activision is now shipping the game companion and I’m pretty excited to play it after having previewed it two months prior. Mostly, I’m just excited for the unlockable cartoons. I do have G1 on DVD that I could watch whenever though. I’m stoked for online multi-player, too. While I won’t go as far as the press release does in calling this unlockable content “unprecedented” and “incredible,” it certainly is something I’d be happy to grind levels for. The Transformers game itself is coming out June 23rd on pretty much every platform, but the PS3, 360 and PC versions will be the only ones with these great bonuses.
