T-Mobile Customers Continue To Jump Ship, But With Less Haste Than Before

    TMobile

T-Mobile’s customer base has been dwindling for a while now, but the migration from pink seems to be slowing with just 50,000 customers bouncing out of there in the second quarter. That’s compared to the 90,000 T-Mo customers that jumped ship last year.

With this past quarter’s losses, T-Mobile’s current subscriber base comprises 33.6 million people — quite a bit less than AT&T’s 90+ million subscribers. → Read More

T-Mobile To Make Carrier Billing An Option For Online Purchases

    T-Mobile

Every phone geek loves to debate how long it’ll be before we’ve trashed our wallets in favor of paying for stuff with our phones in the real world — but what about online?

Tailing a similar announcement by Verizon a few months back, T-Mobile has just announced that they’re opening up their carrier billing system to online retailers, allowing T-Mobile customers to charge things purchased on the web (whether it’s purchased on a smartphone, a tablet, or a good ol’ fashion computer) right to their monthly bill. → Read More

T-Mobile Rebounds With 7-Eleven After Radio Shack Split

    tmoreboundgirl

Breaking up is hard to do, but T-Mobile and Radio Shack seem to be handling the split rather well, all things considered. After Radio Shack alleged that T-Mo materially breached the terms of their agreement, the two have gone their separate ways. Or at least, they will on September 15. This is more of the awkward, still-living-together phase.

In the mean time, Radio Shack has moved on to the hot red head, signing a deal with Verizon. T-Mobile, on the other hand, is looking more like the desperate dumpee, hooking up with none other than the infamous and quite unexpected 7-Eleven. What a rebound, am I right? → Read More

T-Mobile’s New Terms & Conditions Provide For Value Plan Migrations

    t_mobile_logo

Anyone who’s ever taken a stab at reading through a Terms & Conditions agreement knows that they normally rival the Iliad in length. There are two reasons companies do this: first, the more words, the more coverage and protection that company gets within its T&C, and second, the less likely you are to actually read it and find out that you’ve agreed to sell your first born child as payment for this or that product. Or worse, your warranty ends after the first month.

Since no one but lawyers ever enjoys reading these lengthy contracts, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to figure out what’s new in T-Mobile’s Terms & Conditions, which were updated July 24. In truth, not much has changed. However, a new clause regarding changing plans has found its way into the contract. → Read More

T-Mobile’s Motorola Defy Gets An AT&T-Bound Successor?

    defy

I’ve never really been a fan of anything “rugged” — all that heft and rubber tends to push me in another direction. However, the Motorola Defy for T-Mobile did spark my interest with its bright, sharp screen, nice size and shape, and the ability to swim.

This was a strong seller for T-Mobile priced at just $100 on-contract (and $50 elsewhere). But according to TIMN, the Defy’s successor (being called the Defy+) will be more suited for T-Mobile’s betrothed than for the pink carrier itself, sporting AT&T’s 850 / 1900 / 2100 HSPA bands. → Read More

T-Mobile Employee Perk: Gingerbread G2Xs That Don’t Have Narcolepsy

    g2xgingerbread

Remember that one time that you bought the T-Mobile G2x and it randomly restarted? And you were like, “Whoa, that’s weird,” and then it did it again! And again. And again. For three months. Yeah, we’re done with that. → Read More

    T-Mobile Revamps Unlimited Smartphone Plans

    TMobile

T-Mobile today announced that its unlimited smartphone plans are due for yet another makeover, which should offer cheaper options for post-paid smartphone customers. Unfortunately, the release was missing a few key details like pricing, but we do know that they will be called Value plans and provide both single-line and multi-line options. We also know that the new plans will take effect July 24. → Read More

    T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide Confirmed For July 27 Launch, July 19 Pre-Order

After some confusion, T-Mobile has taken to Facebook to give us an exact arrival date for the myTouch 4G Slide.

We originally pegged the slider for a July 27 launch, and as luck (and leaks) would have it, we were right. T-Mo’s Facebook update also confirmed that July 19 will kick off the pre-order period (web only). → Read More

With T-Mobile Name ID, You'll Know Whose Call You're Ignoring

    BLOCKED

You know what’s really annoying? Calls from numbers you don’t have stored in your contacts. If you don’t answer, you could end up missing out on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, or getting some much-needed good news. If you get brave and answer, you could end smack-dab in the middle of a conversation that you never wanted to have in the first place.

Landlines have long been spoiled with Caller ID, and now T-Mobile customers will be equally privileged, as the carrier has introduced “Name ID.” → Read More

Leaked Photo Promises June 22 Launch For Samsung Exhibit 4G, Gravity Smart

Last week, T-Mo squashed rumors of a June 8 launch for its forthcoming Gingerbread-powered Samsung Exhibit 4G and Froyo-topped Gravity Smart, opting to give a much more vague release date of… “June.” However, this freshly leaked photo, if accurate, promises that both phones will hit T-Mobile shelves on June 22. → Read More

T-Mobile myTouch Slide 4G Gets Caught On Blurrycam

Gather ’round, friends, as a glimpse of a once mythical beast is unveiled to the world. Nay, not Bigfoot — something smaller, and with more buttons. Oh, and this one plays friendly with T-Mobile’s kinda-sorta-4G HSPA+ network! Can Bigfoot do that? No. He can’t. Because Bigfoot isn’t real.

Tucked within that splash of blue jeans and blur you see over there is none other than the T-Mobile myTouch Slide 4G — which, as far T-Mobile is concerned, doesn’t exist yet. → Read More

    Review: The T-Mobile G-Slate

The Honeycomb slate market is getting crowded. With new devices launching every day and current models getting incremental updates that put them on parity with just about anything else out there, manufacturers gotta have a gimmick.

Like Power Rangers or Reservoir Dogs, Honeycomb tablet manufacturers must depend on one or two defining characteristics to convince a restless consumer base to pick up their devices. Samsung has the thin one, Motorola has the first one, and LG, with its unique and clever G-Slate, has the 3D one. All we need now is the slate for stoners and the pretty one and you’ve got an episode of Scooby Doo. Add in a waterproof one for Gilligan’s Island. → Read More

We’ve heard it a few times before, but now it’s official: the T-Mobile G-Slate, also known as the Optimus Pad, will be hitting the US tomorrow, April 20th, for $529.99 with a 2-year contract.

If you want one contract, free, it’ll set you back $750 — more than the equivalent iPad, but remember, this one has 3D! → Read More

T-Mobile G-Slate Gets Early Availability On eBay

If you get on T-Mobile’s site to try and order a G-Slate, you’ll end up staring at a big coming soon sign. But on eBay it’s a different story. The 8.9-inch Honeycomb tablet isn’t expected to launch for another two weeks but one eBay user is claiming the G-Slate is on hand and ready to ship. → Read More

Now That AT&T And T-Mobile Are Friends, Will The T-Mobile Girl Be Nice To The iPhone Guy?

Sprint CEO Dan Hesse Warns Of The Danger Of Duopoly In Cell Phone Land

AT&T’s $39 billion bid for T-Mobile this weekend wasn’t just a surprise to the general public. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse was also “shocked” to find out about it. “That one was not on the radar screen,” he tells CNBC’s Jim Cramer in an interview today (transcript). He didn’t think it would be possible because of antitrust issues, and he is definitely playing up those issues now.

Hesse doesn’t like the deal one bit because it will make Sprint a distant third after AT&T and Verizon in the U.S. mobile market. (A combined AT&T-T-Mobile will have more than 100 million subscribers, as does Verizon already, while Sprint is half that size with 50 million). He’s already threatening to complain to Congress, and he’s practicing his arguments on TV. He warns Cramer of a duopoly situation: → Read More

Select Audi Vehicles To Soon Pack Constant T-Mobile Connectivity For Google Earth And More

High-end Audi vehicles pack more technology than many office complexes and the company is going to tap the services of T-Mobile (now AT&T?) for constant Internet connectivity. The Audi Connect infotainment suite brings real-time news, weather, traffic, fuel prices, WiFi hotspot along with Google services such as Local Search and Google Earth to the car. The vehicles will come with a six-month complimentary trial period, but after that, owners simply need to activate the T-Mobile SIM card that’s inserted into the Audi MMI Navigation Plus system.

Audi Connect should hit the all-new 2012 Audi A7 along with the 2012 A8, A6, Q7 and the upcoming Q5 Hybrid. No word on pricing after the free period ends. → Read More

LG G-Slate For T-Mobile Gets Priced

The T-Mobile G-Slate is one of the first tablets to offer Android 3.0 (Honeycomb). It has an 8.9-inch, 3D-capable, multi-touchscreen and the ability to record 3D and full HD video, those the 3D will not be 1080p. The slate also uses T-Mobile’s version of 4G (HSPA). And, as of today it gets a price. → Read More

Fast Break: As Of Last Week, Many At Sprint Thought They Were Merging With T-Mobile

This morning’s bombshell news that AT&T would be buying T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom for $39 billion has left a lot of questions. T-Mobile customers want to know what it means for them? AT&T customers want to know what it means for them? Would-be iPhone buyers want to know what it means for them? T-Mobile and AT&T have started addressing those already. One thing not addressed yet: what does this mean for Sprint, the nation’s third-largest carrier?

And it’s an especially poignant question for Sprint because as of last week, many at that company believed they would be merging with T-Mobile, we’ve heard. → Read More

In The Race For More Spectrum, AT&T Is Acquiring T-Mobile For $39 Billion

As anyone who has read a tech blog in the past few years will know, AT&T has been under attack for not being able to match the network capacity of larger rival Verizon. And when they won the majority of the bids for the open spectrum in 2008, Verizon also had a clear path to the future. Now AT&T is taking another path: buying T-Mobile.

Here’s the release with the details of the deal. AT&T will pay roughly $39 billion to Deutsche Telekom for T-Mobile USA. Deutsche Telekom will also get a roughly 8 percent ownership stake in AT&T as a result of the deal. And a Deutsche Telekom executive will join AT&T’s Board. → Read More
