Update on Canon's rumored new video device

More info! Keep in mind this update is merely an update to the rumor. It’s not a confirmation or anything like that. The anonymous source, bless him, has added some tidbits to the earlier announcement, which was slightly cryptic. For instance, “120Hz” is clarified to 120 full frames, but the camera will supposedly be limited to 60. Why? No one knows. → Read More

Rumor: Canon producing a pro digital video camera?

Canon may have decided to take the digital recording to the next level. There’s been some pretty amazing stuff being done with the Canon 5D mkII, and there have been some leaks about where they might be going with this.

Keep in mind, this a rumor only and unconfirmed, it could very easily be a fanboy hoax. But if the rumor is true, Canon is working on a pro-level video camera using their 1x APS-C CMOS sensor that will let them capture up to 120 full frames per second at 12.1 megapixels. → Read More

Rumor: Sony to announce PS3 news tomorrow

An unsubstantiated rumor coming out of Australia says Sony is readying for a global announcement tomorrow regarding the PS3. What’s on tap for the announcement is still up in the air, if this is even true, but all fingers point to a price drop for the console. Or a new browser and online content, according to analysts that SmartHouse made up or bothered not to source. → Read More

Rumor: Palm Pre launching on April 30th for $299?

So, there’s this guy named Jim Vance who is the CEO of Logicomm, which appears to be some IT firm and Mr. Vance is claiming to have a Pre and that it’s coming on 4/30. He has a handful of tweets claiming this and that about the Pre, but he’s had it for two days and promises of photos and screenshots of the UI have not yet materialized.

Update: Because this is how I like to spend my Saturday afternoons – following some dude on Twitter for Pre updates. Anyway, Mr. Van claims to have been tipped off by an insider on the price of the Pre. → Read More

Rumorville, USA: Skype for iPhone next week

Om Malik (he puts the Om in GigaOM) is reporting that “a very reliable” tipster told him “that Skype is almost ready to launch [an] iPhone version, perhaps as soon as next week.” Next week being the CTIA Wireless show in Las Vegas, where the big wireless companies get together to pat themselves on the back for stuff like fixing mobile broadband pricing at $60 per month for 5GB of data. → Read More

Rumor: VAIO P spec bumps coming?

Sony’s “don’t call it a netbook” VAIO P may be getting an internal makeover by the summer according to the all-things-Sony blog, Sony Insider. The current VAIO series model numbers have naming conventions such as “VGN-P530H/G” and Sony Insider was able to dig up six mysterious model numbers that look similar to the current ones, but place them in the 700 series instead of the 500 series. → Read More

Nintendo DSi to get Virtual Console, Sega on-board?

Wouldn’t it be rad if Nintendo announced Virtual Console for the DSi at GDC this week? We’re unsure if this will actually happen this week, but there’s a rumor going around the web that this was mentioned last night at an event for Club Nintendo members. If true, you’ll be able to download classics from the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance era, but they’ll be limited to first-party titles. And I doubt anyone will have issues with that. Games can be saved onto SD cards on the new DSi in capacities larger than 2GB.

But that’s not all. → Read More

Rumor: Apple readying multiple new iPhone/iPod Touch models

If the earlier news from LG didn’t whet your appetite over new Apple hardware then BGR’s tidbit of news will certainly send you into a frenzy. One of BGR’s many “ninjas” was sifting through the 3.0 restore ramdisk and found a string of code that may or may not allude to multiple new devices. According to the “ninja,” Apple historically IDs their iPhone and iPod Touch in chronological order and found within the ramdisk are upwards of six new hardware IDs.

The short version is provided here, but the entire string can be found over at BGR. → Read More

Rumor: LG confirms Apple will have new OLED notebook, iPhone and maybe something else

Do you have high blood pressure? Well, you’re about to get a huge chunk of salt for lunch. Smarthouse is claiming that a source working in the confines of LG have revealed that Apple is working on an OLED touch-screen netbook and a new iPhone/iPod Touch. Sure, we knew about the 10-inch panels weeks ago, but this lends a bit of credence to that rumor. It’s no secret that Apple tapped LG a while back to produce screens for them, but a leak of this nature could spell disaster for the partnership. → Read More

Apple to take delivery of 10-inch touchscreens

Oh, hi. More Apple rumors for you this fine morning. Reuters got word from a secret Wintek employee “who asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to talk to the media” that Apple has purchased 10-inch touchscreens. No one else commented, including Wintek, and this story is so convoluted now that I need to go look at some LOLCats. → Read More

    Xbox 360 Elite being axed?

Last week Fudzilla was reporting that Microsoft could be phasing out the Xbox 360 Elite in select markets while making it a limited edition model in NA and Europe. It all boils down to the current state of the economy. And it wouldn’t hurt the sales of special edition Elite consoles like the Resident Evil 5 bundle if the black Elites weren’t so abundant. → Read More

Like every other major camera manufacturer, Pentax had a lackluster PMA showing this year, but an interview between a Swedish mag and Pentax official says otherwise. Whether it’s the successor to the K20D is up for debate, which is exactly what’s going on over at DPreview forums. → Read More

I can’t remember the last time I’ve posted about Sony this many times so early in the week. The latest rumor comes from Dave Perry surrounding the PSP 2.

    PS3 price cut rumor #5,678,125,742

Let’s be honest with each other, readers. The PS3 is expensive. Sure, it’s a Blu-ray player and there’s free online services, but it’s still expensive. It desperately needs a price drop to maintain its position in the market. But Euro Sony boss David Reeves said last month that we shouldn’t expect a price drop anytime soon. That didn’t stop Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey from proclaiming that a $100 price drop is coming. → Read More
