For safety and insurance reasons, you’re required to warn participants about the dangers they may face. After all, it’s learning through science and not dying through science. That said, these nine Aperture Science surplus labels available from ThinkGeek for just $12.99 should satisfy the minimum safety requirements. Affixing said warnings are a non-issue since they’re printed on… → Read More

Today is a big day. Portal 2 launched this morning. I’ve heard nothing but good things so far, but I tend to avoid big spoilers like the review I’m posting here. I haven’t watched it and I don’t plan on it because I’m going to play the game even if GameTrailers — who I totally respect — says it’s a pile of monkey turds. But others might be a bit more… → Read More

http://player.ooyala.com/player.swf?embedCode=trMWRjMjqH3UYnH2UMaGXgKiwaRIeDQn&version=2 Valve is punching the throttle on the Portal 2 launch with a set of self-made commercials that are, in essence, a big FU to ad agencies. In this one we learn why the two Portal bots were created: because humans suck. → Read More
It’s as if Valve is run by actual people, and not input-output robots that are programmed to respond with shiny phrases that sound pleasing to The Man. The company recently released its Portal 2 TV spot, and the novel thing about it is that it was created entirely in-house. Valve didn’t enlist a third-party ad agency to create it. And why is that? Because “no one knows the product better than… → Read More

Portal 2 may be coming to the PS3 and bringing cross-platform play and some Steam elements with it, but the Steam interface is really designed for mouse navigation, not analog sticks. Valve is looking to fix that with a special “big picture mode” designed for use with big TVs and console controllers. → Read More
It’s looking more and more like the PS3 version of Portal 2 will be the better of the two console versions. Valve told the German PlayStation Blog that Portal 2 PS3 will ship with “complete” Move support. Apparently they’re still working on working out all the kinks, but it’s part of Valve’s effort to make up for the so-so PS3 version of The Orange Box, which was developed by an external team. → Read More

Steam has been working on their new UI for a few months now, I’ve been using it for a while, but it sounds like it’s finally going to be released. The new version has some really nice cosmetic updates, as well as some added functionality (such as a much loved/hated achievement system). → Read More
I haven’t even looked at these yet. I saw them on Reddit and immediately came here to put them up. So that’s why this post is so short. Wait, I just read this: “Portal was a test bed.
