Chart: Apple's Tablet OS Share Will Shrink To 47 Percent By 2015

How long can Apple hold onto its dominance of the tablet market with the iPad? There no question that the iPad is leaps and bounds ahead of all other tablets, including the latest Android tablets running Honeycomb, in terms of market share, apps, design and overall experience. With the recently released iPad 2, it is maintaining its lead. But how long can that last? After all, Android… Read More

I was originally going to write something like “Weekend Giveaway: An iPod Classic Case Plus Something Else” and then make you guys read the whole post to find out that I was going to include a Blackberry Playbook in the prize and then you’d be angry and come to my house and stuff and nobody wanted that. So here goes: we’re going to give you one lucky reader a… Read More

  • Apple-Created Touchscreen Shortage Blamed For RIM PlayBook Delay

Research In Motion—RIM to you and me—was forced to delay the release of its PlayBook tablet because Apple pretty much exhausted the supply of touchscreen displays. The tablet has been delayed for about a year now, so a few extra days probably won’t make too big a difference. And, of course, no tablet other than the iPad matters, so it’s all a bit moot. • RIM Confirms: Playbook To Run Android Apps

It looks like earlier speculation regarding Android apps on the BlackBerry PlayBook was correct. Today, RIM officially announced Android app support for the BlackBerry PlayBook. This was made possible by what RIM calls a “high degree of API compatibility,” making it easy for Android developers to port apps to the PlayBook. But there is one slight catch. Read More

  • Incoming! Blackberry Playbook Appears On FCC

Not much here to note but this FCC filing shows that the Blackberry Playbook has pushed through another hurdle towards reality. The filing shows the capacaties – 16, 32, and 64GB – but the rest is classified per RIM’s request to the FCC. I’m actually quite intrigued by this pad but I’d probably never buy one. We shall, as they say, see. Read More

RIM Finally Sees The Light. Unfortunately, It’s An Onrushing Train – Or Is It?

Strange things are afoot in my hometown of Waterloo, Canada, which doubles as Research In Motion’s headquarters. ShopSavvy says that someone there has been running their Android app — on BlackBerry devices. Separately, Bloomberg has reported that RIM’s forthcoming PlayBook tablet will run Android apps. A video from the Mobile World Congress allegedly shows a BlackBerry… Read More

  • LG G-Slate, Roll Out! Video Shows What Honeycomb Will Do With iOS

With all the talk of Playbooks and TouchPads these days, it’s sad that poor old LG hasn’t had much traction with their 10-inch G-Slate aka The Optimus Pad. Well how’s this for traction? This bit of fanfic shows the Optimus Pad fighting, Michael Bay-style, high over a futuristic cityscape. While we all know Honeycomb is going to be amazing, did you know it could shoot fire… Read More

  • RIM's Playbook To Hit Office Depot In April For $500?

We heard a while back that RIM was aiming at undercutting the iPad by putting the upcoming Playbook at less than $500. If this pricing leak is true, it looks like they decided price parity was acceptable. The version shown is the 16GB wi-fi only version, meaning it would likely have price tiering similar to the iPad’s, starting at $500 and working upwards at ~$100 increments. Read More
