  • noBounds: Show mobile content at full HD on larger screens

noBounds! – blast Smartphones display bounds! from Bernd Steinke on Vimeo. NoBounds is a new project by Nokia which allows you to stream full HD video at 30 fps from mobiles to televisions. It also enables mouse and keyboard interactions with your tiny, sassy cellphone. Smartphones have a tiny display, since they need to be pocketable. PCs and Notebook do not suffer from this… Read More

  • Un-CrunchDeals: Nokia N810 has mysterious price increase. Wait, what?

[photopress:439.jpg,full,center] Nokia, you teasing little minx! First you drop the price of the lovely N810 Internet Tablet almost $100 to an iPod Touch-competing $389, making many of us check out bank accounts, and then just like that you raise the price to $439? Why do you do this to us? There are rumors of a WiMAX version to be debuted at CTIA in a few weeks, which a lot of people are… Read More

  • Rumor: WiMAX Nokia tablet launching at CTIA

If the rumors are true then Nokia will announce the WiMAX N810 tablet that’s been swirling about for months. They did mention it coming way back in August so this seems to make sense. Doug and I will be on the ground to sort it all out for you in April. Nokia N810 with WiMAX launching April 1st at CTIA? [BGR] Read More

  • Nokia N95 finally released in North America

[photopress:nokia_n95_8gb_us_1.jpg,full,center] You’ve been patient little Nokia fans, haven’t you? You are now being rewarded. The N95, perhaps the most advanced cell phone after the iPhone, (even with my misgivings), is now available in North America direct, for $779 retail. This is the 8GB, US-friendly HSDPA version, and is SIM-free, meaning un-subsidized, and will work with… Read More

  • Silverlight On Nokia Phones, Offline Announcement Perhaps Tomorrow

Nokia has announced its intention to make Microsoft Silverlight available for S40 and S60 phones, along with Nokia Internet tablets. The decision strengthens Silverlights position as a competitor to Flash, but more importantly (as I noted perhaps prematurely last week) readies Microsoft’s Silverlight platform for the one game that’s new enough that it might have a hope in… Read More

  • Maemo brings PAN to Nokia Internet tablets

[photopress:nokia_n800_hands_on_1.jpg,full,center] Current owners of Nokia N-series Internet tablets can use their integrated Bluetooth connections to start dial-up networking with tetherable handsets for Internet access on the go. But DUN is awkward and clunky, the new hotness, especially for smartphone owners who like Windows Mobile, is Bluetooth PAN. PAN offers a simpler way to connect. Read More

  • Some weird Nokia concept confuses me

I’m all for future conjecture, but this kind of stuff just clouds the issue. Will we have e-paper phones? Sure. Will we use nanotech? Sure. But will we have them soon and will we be using them in the same candybar form factor as this strange video suggests? Probably not. Stuff will get weird in a few years, I don’t doubt it, but I don’t think we’ll be waving apples at… Read More

  • Rumor: WiMax enabled Nokia tablet to be released in April

It appears a new Nokia tablet is making the rounds in the rumor mill and this one comes WiMax-enabled. We’ll see what happens at CTIA in April. WiMax N810 Leaked, To Be Announced At CTIA? [via Into Mobile] Read More

  • Funny five-minute South Park-ish gadget movie

This five-minute animated cartoon is, for all intents and purposes, a South Park episode waiting to happen. Hell, if Trey Parker and Matt Stone were so inclined, they could just order this thing up and plop it down on Comedy Central without changing much at all. Very well done by the good people at the Um-brella.com site. Everyone gets equal ribbing in this one; Nokia, Apple, and Microsoft. Read More

  • Worms World Party coming out on N-Gage (again)

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve never played any of the titles from the “Worms” series but I’ve heard good things and my cousin John used to get all riled up about the games when we were younger. Nokia’s just officially announced that Worms World Party will be available on the new N-Gage platform, just like it was on the old N-Gage platform. You’ll… Read More

  • Yahoo! Go 3.0 Beta: You're chorking on it

[photopress:scaled.IMG_1318.JPG,full,pp_image] Got a moment to play with Yahoo! Go 3.0 Beta on Symbian hardware and it looks pretty nice. It has a sort of carousel interface with news, maps, and messaging and, sadly, doesn’t really filter images for taste and aesthetics, as we see here. It works with Blackberries, most Nokias, and the UIQ Sony-Ericssons. They were also showing off… Read More

  • Google and Nokia shack up after a few pints

Looks like Google’s insistent caresses finally broke down Nokia’s defenses. And Google got some. Nokia’s been putting it off for a long time, but I think that Google’s just too much of a stud to refuse at this point. Nokia will be including Google search into a few select phones (the N96, N78, 6210 and 6220) before rolling it out to more. Probably a good idea since… Read More

  • Nokia 6210: Navigator phone

Huh… the 6210 has an accelerometer and a built-in compass along with GPS. Now that’s something interesting. Perhaps this could be their next work-out phone? The 6210 supports Maps 2.0 and has local maps pre-loaded on the 1GB memory card. It also has A-GPS. You can download free maps at maps.nokia.com. It has a 3.2-megapixel camera and MP3 player and will cost about 300 euro ($325). Read More

  • Nokia 6220: GPS photo phone

The 6220 has a 5-megapixel camera with flash and geotagging. It will cost about 325 euros ($375) and supports HSDPA along with Nokia’s new Maps 2.0 application. It has a music player, FM radio, and supports microSD. Interestingly, it supports something called “widgets” which looks like an “always-on-top” system for weather, stocks, and all the other little info… Read More

  • New Nokia N-Series: N96 and N78

Here comes Nokia out of the gate with a set of two N-Series devices, the N96 and the N78. Both of these should be available in the U.S., so that’s the first plus, and they’re priced at a premium, so that’s the first minus. The N78 (350 euros or about $400) has a 3.2-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and support for microSD. It has A-GPS for geotagging and supports… Read More

  • Microsoft wants Windows Mobile on Nokia phones

[photopress:n95wm.jpg,full,right] From what I understand, Nokia cellphones are among the best out there and Windows Mobile is among the worst mobile OS’s out there. So it totally makes sense for Microsoft to put pressure on the Finnish corp to release Windows Mobile phones. Microsoft wants Nokia to move in order to extend “synergies.” And for no reason, here’s the… Read More

  • Sneak a download of the NGage platform for S60, guv'nuh?

[photopress:nokia_n95_8gb.JPG,full,center] Remember the NGage? For those who don’t, it was Nokia’s (yes, we know it’s Nokia day today) idea to combine a Gameboy-like device and a cellphone. While the concept was sound, the final product sucked. Badly. It was expensive, underpowered, hard to use, and ugly as sin. But NGage is back, this time as a game platform for… Read More

  • Wi-Fi sharing app for S60 surfaces

[photopress:TMobile_HotSpot.jpg,full,center] We’ve heard of tools like this for Windows Mobile, in fact we used one to liveblog the Bill Gates keynote at CES, but this is the first time a Wi-Fi sharing app for smartphones has hit a Symbian phone. If your S60-powered phone has Wi-Fi, you can now use it as an access point for all of your Wi-Fi-epuipped devices. Install the app and run it… Read More

  • Nokia's N82 is real, and ready for pre-order

[photopress:n82_tar.jpg,full,center] For those who like their phones black and sexy and powerful, there’s the Nokia N82. It’s been rumored for awhile, but the latest addition to the N-series is real, it’s shipping soon, and is badass. The Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3G GSM phone is running S60 over Symbian, has a 5-Megapixel camera with Xenon flash, and looks amazing. $630, but good to go… Read More
