The iPod Nano may have something cool up its sleeve. This patent, discovered by PatentlyApple, describes a dynamic screensaver that will take cues from the outside environment, changing according to motion, light, and the colors around the device. → Read More
A charming couple in Ottawa, Canada, Chrys and Dom Coballe, is making some handsome, if expensive, iPod Nano watch bands that pop out and even turn at an angle to offer multiple viewing angles. Although I think the hey day of the iPod Nano watch is over, they seem far too charming to just ignore. → Read More
Are you ready for some excitement this fine morning? Apple has something special for you if you recently purchased a 6th gen Nano. What is it? I won’t tell until you click through!
Aw, heck, I’ll just tell you.
With iPod software update version 1.1 for iPod nano (6th generation), you will be able to:
Completely turn off the iPod, rather than just put the device to sleep.
Control music or radio playback using the Sleep/Wake button without having to look at the device.
The Hex Watch Band didn’t make it into our iPod Nano watch round up but by gum it should have been there, especially considering this truly magical example of videography provided by the company itself.
Check it out after the jump. → Read More
Is it just me, or is this iPod watchband thing getting old? Jobs makes one off-hand comment during a product announcement and suddenly a cottage industry pops up. → Read More
People have been remarking on how “watches are dying.” Referring to the fact that some people are choosing their mobile phones over watches. I say that these people probably didn’t have very nice watches to begin with, but that is beside the point. The point is why is it that the iPod Nano comes out, has a time function that displays an analog clock, and the geek world that is so convinced they no longer need watches, clamor to get the thing on their wrist? Isn’t that just a bit ironic? → Read More
I just bought my sister an iPod Nano and she really seems to like it. However, I don’t know how much she’d like a fake iPod Nano from the Shanzai markets. This wee fake comes in two sizes, 1.5 or 1.8 inches, and even comes in multiple colors. No pricing, but given my experience with Chinese junk I wouldn’t recommend picking it up. → Read More
The new nano has been stripped of its camera, squashed down into a square, and given a touchscreen. Not only that, but the $149 Nano reportedly only costs Apple a meager $45.10 to manufacture. I’ve heard of mark-up, but this is getting a little ridiculous. → Read More
Just in time for Yom Kippur you can rend your clothes and wail at the new Incipio watch adapter for the iPod Nano. You slap the Nano into a tiny case, attached it to a $9.99 nylon bracelet, and you’re golden. The case costs $24 and will be available in October. Trust me: don’t turn your Nano into a watch. Just get a nice Casio and let the Nano do its job as an MP3 player. → Read More
I wanted to make an iWatch but I didn’t really feel the need to buy another Nano. That said, if you want to try your hand at iWatchery, hop over to GnomonWatches or even eBay and just look for a “Bond” strap in the style you like. → Read More
Remember the last generation of iPod Nano? It made a great little video recorder, but ended up being banned in some gyms due to privacy concerns. You have to wonder, did Apple do such a complete redesign on the Nano because of that controversy? Well whatever the reason, there are still traces of that video capability in the firmware. Apple also left in the ability to display a photo slideshow via a special composite video cable. → Read More
With reviews trickling out of the new iGear, I wonder if anyone is actively updating and why? Do you need another iPod Touch right now? Are you really going to wear the Nano on your wrist? And you’re lying if you say you’re getting a Nano because only crazy people buy Nanos. Thoughts? I’ve added a little Twitter comment box below so start commenting. I think I’ll get a Touch for my mom so she can Facetime with us over Wi-Fi at home but the Nano kind of leaves me cold. → Read More
This is obviously a much older Nano but at $48 for 1GB, I may get this for my Dad so he can listen to Roy Orbison albums. Again, not amazingly great but $48? Pretty good. → Read More
VIA has introduced its updated line of Nano processors, built for netbooks and all-in-one computers. The 3000 series promises a 20% performance boost over existing Nano CPUs while managing to reduce overall power consumption by 20% as well. → Read More
I got the yellow iPod nano thinking it would be more like the old brushed nanos with a little bit of color. Instead I open the box to discover it looks like something Elton John would wear on his head like a feather. This is not to disparage Elton John or feathers. It’s just that it’s a little bright. → Read More
If we are to believe an iLounge tipster, this is what the next iPod nano will look like. The screen ratio will change from 1.33:1 to 1.5:1. the click wheel will be shifted down and shrunk a bit. And yes, it will have a camera. All this in a less scratchable plastic (eww, plastic) matte body. The same tipster states that this new nano will be released with the iPod touch which should be sometime between July and September. → Read More
Will you look at that. That’s one tiny flash drive. The EagleTec USB Nano takes small to a whole new, and welcomed, level. No longer are we going to be subject to large appendages sticking out of our laptop’s side. Oh now, now that this drive is out from EagleTec, chances are we’ll see ‘em from other manufacturers too. But really, the EagleTec one seems good ‘nough. → Read More
