The MSI Wind U120 with a six-cell battery dips slightly below $300 after a $10 mail-in rebate good until the end of the month. Amazon currently has a $20 price break on the machine, bringing the price to $309.99 before the rebate. → Read More
If you’ve been waiting patiently for an Apple netbook – something the company’s not even close to announcing – you might want to pass the time with an MSI Wind loaded up with OSX and modded with an honest, glowing Apple logo from an old iBook lid. → Read More
Australia, land of kangaroos and terrible actors, must be beaming today, what with the news that someone there was able to overclock an Intel Atom processor to 2.38GHz. That’s the fastest we’ve ever seen an Atom run, as a matter of fact. Of course, getting the processor, found in an MSI Wind, to run that was quite the challenge, as it should be. Not since Frankenstein pieced together… → Read More
Behold, the MSI Wind Neton. It’s a nettop, a new category of computer that can best be described as an all-in-one desktop version of a netbook. Think mini iMac. This here Neton, which was just shown off in China, comes in three sizes: 22 inches, 18.5 inches and 15.6 inches. (Those are monitor sizes, obviously.) All three models, named the M22, M19 and M16, respectively, use the Intel Atom… → Read More
Sylvania had the right idea when it rebranded the 7-inch Everex Cloudbook as the Sylvania “g” netbook except for the fact that the Cloudbook never really took off. Then came the 8.9-inch Sylvania MESO, which was a kinda-sorta rebranded Amtek Elego by Digital Gadgets, a licensee of Sylvania. Huh? Now, Sylvania seems to be on the right track by rebranding the 10-inch MSI Wind as the Sylvania g… → Read More

First, the U90X-007UK (pictured far left) will have an 8.9-inch screen instead of the standard 10-inch screen. See… → Read More
Here’s a quick look at six mini-notebooks whose main appeals are size, price and mobility. The recently launched Eee PC 1000 is available with either a 40 GB or 80 GB hard drive. Both have 2 GB of RAM and run a 1.6 GHz processor. Keyboard is sized at 92% of full size. WiFi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth enabled. Recent price: $549 → Read More
Some folks have convinced an MSI Wind that it is a Mac Pro and that it can run Leopard like a champ. Using Kalyway 10.5.2, a Leopard install, some Spanish hackers installed and ran the OS with no issues. Ethernet and Bluetooth both work sans problems. Our own experience with the Wind seems to point to an amazing machine without peer in the ultralight category, so maybe it deserves a little credit. → Read More
I’ve been using the MSI Wind and for a little while now and have checked out a handful of things that our readers have asked about. I’ll have a full review of the notebook itself coming up soon but in the meantime, I’ve tested the following: Skype video recording and playback, HD video playback (WMVHD and AVCHD), Photoshop, Google Earth, StarCraft, Ubuntu 8.04, DVD playback with a mounted… → Read More
